Your evening begins with a brief walking tour of the historical South Main district to set the tone for this incredible story. The South Main Historical District and it's dark side of history includes murders, mysteries and legends. During winter months we will meet inside instead of walking if the weather demands.
We continue the evening with an investigation and EVP and spirit box session in the dark basement of a murder scene. What will we find with our EMF meters, spirit box, thermometers, and more? Bring your own cameras and recording equipment and any other hand held investigating equipment. This is an interactive event which is different each and every time.
Patrolman Edward Broadfoot was shot and killed while conducting a check of a cafe at 546 Main Street Saturday February 23, 1918.
The officers had received information that there were bootleggers operating out of the Preferencia cafe. When Patrolman Broadfoot and his partner entered the cafe, they observed three suspicious men seated in the back of the room with a suit case on the floor next to them.
As they approached the men, one man stood and walked towards the exit. Patrolman Broadfoot's partner stopped that suspect and questioned him. Patrolman Broadfoot continued to walk to the remaining two suspects. As he approached, one suspect stood and drew a gun from his belt and opened fire, killing Patrolman Broadfoot.
Patrolman Broadfoot's partner returned fire, killing one suspect before he was wounded, but the other two suspects escaped.
